Cleaning Your Engagement Ring at Home
The best, easiest, least expensive way to clean your engagement ring at home is to do the following:
- Remove your engagement ring from your hand
- Boil a small pot of water on your stove with about two tablespoons of dish soap
- Put a small strainer over the pot but allow the strainer to go into the water
- Gently place your engagement ring into the strainer
- Allow the ring to boil for a few moments
- Remove the strainer and gently dry your ring with a soft cloth
Now, this method is intended for gemstones that are very hard on the Mohs hardness scale and is NOT intended for softer gemstones like opals, rubies, or moonstones.
Some clients have also said that for older, vintage engagement rings, the method can cause tiny little diamonds (or melee) to fall out because the engagement ring has not been serviced in a while.
